The serene environment of Cold Springs Boutique Hotel in Karen came alive as the World Youth Alliance Africa (WYA Africa) hosted an inspiring Advocacy Academy Training for members. The three-day intensive program brought together passionate young Kenyans eager to strengthen their knowledge and skills in advocacy, policy engagement, and human dignity.
The training immersed participants in WYA’s foundational White Papers including Sustainable Development, Maternal Health, Family Planning, Reproductive Health, Assisted Suicide, EU Development Aid and Coercive Practices, HIV/AIDS, Surrogacy and the Introduction to FEMM (Fertility Education and Medical Management).
Through these sessions, attendees explored the ethical dimensions of development, health, and global cooperation, connecting the principles of human dignity with real-world policy challenges.
Interactive discussions, group activities, and quizzes kept the sessions lively, ensuring participants not only learned but also applied key advocacy concepts. The facilitators guided participants through practical approaches to designing impactful advocacy campaigns, public engagement strategies, and aligning local initiatives with WYA’s global mission.
The highlight of the training was the certification ceremony, where each participant was recognized for successfully completing the Academy—a celebration of growth, leadership, and commitment to advancing the dignity of the human person.
As one participant shared, “The Advocacy Academy has changed how I see advocacy:it’s not just about raising voices, but about using knowledge to drive meaningful change.”
The Nairobi Chapter continues to embody WYA’s vision of a generation of young Africans equipped to influence policies and shape a future rooted in respect for human dignity.
