The World Youth Alliance (WYA) Kenya recently hosted an Advocacy Academy Training for The Kenya High school students. It was an engaging and transformative program designed to equip young people with the knowledge, confidence, and values to become strong advocates for human dignity and social impact.
The sessions were guided by the WYA White Papers, which offer a person-centered approach to global challenges. Through open discussions and interactive activities, the students explored what these ideas mean in real life, and how they can apply them in their schools and communities.
They began with Sustainable Development, realizing that real progress goes beyond technology and infrastructure, it’s about improving lives while protecting both people and the planet. The conversation then shifted to EU Development Aid, where students examined how partnerships between nations can empower communities when grounded in ethics and respect.
When the discussion turned to HIV/AIDS, participants spoke candidly about stigma, awareness, and the importance of compassion in addressing health challenges. The final session on FEMM (Fertility Education and Medical Management) introduced a new perspective on reproductive health, one focused on knowledge, self-respect, and informed decision-making.
As the day unfolded, the energy in the room deepened into something more powerful, conviction. Students began to see themselves not just as learners, but as advocates capable of inspiring change.
“I came to learn, but I’m leaving inspired,”
one participant shared, capturing the spirit of the day.
The Advocacy Academy ended with hope and determination, a promise that these young leaders would carry forward the message of dignity, integrity, and compassion into their schools and communities.
The World Youth Alliance continues to empower youth to lead with purpose, advocate with empathy, and build communities where every human person is valued.
